Outdoor Opera

At the top of a hill in the grounds of a beautiful English Country House stands an open air opera flanked by two large garden temples. One pavilion is an entrance and party hall for guests before they take their places in the Amphitheatre and the other is a green room for the actors, musicians and performers to prepare themselves for the evening ahead.

From this hilltop position the audience has a terrific long view out to the East and the sun sets in the West behind. As the sun gets low in the sky the distant hills turn an autumnal fiery gold mid opera, the stars come out, the lights come up and the audience is absorbed completely by the stage. The flanking temples provide reverberance to the performance of both singer and musician alike and carry the souls of the audience back to some ancient ritual below the stars.

The goal of this project was to delight all of the senses and provide the visitors to the estate with something quite spectacular.
